Not a lot happened plot wise, and there were only a handful of information/character reveals. Unfortunately, Shimmer felt a bit like a filler book for me. I’m just there – with the characters, in those places – with just a few words on Weston’s behalf. I can slip into the world of The Rephaim without any effort. There’s something about Weston’s writing style that is just so easy. And Gaby has to get the bitterly divided Rephaim to work together, or Rafa has no chance at all. She’s even coming to grips with the fact that Jude, the brother she’s mourned for a year, didn’t die at all.īut now Rafa-sexy, infuriating Rafa-is being held, and hurt, by Gatekeeper demons. She can just about cope with being one of the Rephaim – a 140-year-old half-angel – whose memories have been stolen. She’s almost used to the idea that she’s not the nineteen-year-old backpacker she thought she was. Gaby thought her life couldn’t get more complicated. How: A copy of this novel was provided by Text Publishing in exchange for an honest review. What: Shimmer (The Rephaim #3) by Paula Weston
